Ideas To Do A Vegas Wedding On A Budget

Posted December 2, 2008 by TrafficKahuna

Getting married? You are almost certain to spend a small fortune on your wedding preparations. The costs range from a professional wedding photographer to the cake to a fun DJ and much more. Well, the venue for your wedding ceremony doesn’t also need to cost you an arm and leg, even if held in a luxurious location.

Are you looking to do a cheap Vegas wedding? Well, the good news is that Las Vegas isn’t just a place for spur-of-the-moment elopements anymore. Every theme hotel and popular destination offer unique packages, from the traditional to the adventurous.

You can say “I do” atop the Eiffel Tower replica or aboard a gondola at the Venetian, or, of course, in a replica of the Elvis Graceland Chapel and with an Elvis impersonator as your minister. You could even say your vows on top of the Stratosphere Tower roller coaster. The possibilities for a unique and affordable Vegas wedding are endless.

So, keep reading for tips and tricks on how to have a great wedding Vegas for any budget.

Utilize the Tourism Office in Las Vegas

Because of the city and state’s dependency on tourism dollars, Las Vegas has one of the most organized and helpful tourism office staffs in the country. One phone call with a layout of your budget and basic ideas, and they can help you plan your entire trip. Remember, these are local residents who know the city inside and out.

From a great hotel that you can afford to finding a fantastic chapel that will do a great cheap Vegas wedding, the staff at the Las Vegas Tourism Office can do it. It’s like having a wedding planner for free. In addition to helping you with ceremony details, they can also track down hotel deals and group rates for your family and friends.

To get in touch with the Tourism Office, try their toll free number at 1-877-847-4858 or check their website out at visitlasvegas.com.

Ask the Front Desk at Your Hotel

It doesn’t matter if you’re staying at the fancy Mandalay Bay or the budget Riviera, your hotel will have a concierge or guest services professional who can help you plan either a chapel or on-site wedding service that works within your budget - especially, if you’re making a group booking that includes your guests too.

Much like the tourists’ office, the hotel staff will know the city and can help you plan something that fits your price point.

Take a Stroll Down Las Vegas Boulevard

The majority of cheap Vegas wedding chapels can be found along the stretch of Las Vegas Blvd. that runs from West Sahara Ave. to Fremont Street. A twenty minute stroll will take you past more than twenty wedding chapels, letting you compare prices and check availability for last-minute bookings. Alternatively, you can look for a directory of chapels online at visitlasvegas.com/vegas/play/weddings.

Unearthing An Excellent Wedding DJ In The Vicinity Of Cincinnati

Posted November 26, 2008 by TrafficKahuna

Your wedding is one of the greatest days of your life. It’s no wonder then that most brides put so much time and effort into the details of the wedding preparations. You want a great venue for your wedding ceremony, a beautiful cake, an experienced professional wedding photographer, and much more

But if you’re still hunting for a Cincinnati wedding DJ, keep reading for four great tips that will help you track down the ideal person and entertainment company for your wedding.

Get Thee to a Wedding Expo

You can find a whole conference center full of wedding DJ’s (and photographers, caterers, dressmakers and more) at three of the Cincinnati area’s top bridal exhibitions - the Dayton Bridal Expo, the Cincinnati Bridal Expo and the annual Veils and Cocktails event at The Madison.

The Cincinnati Bridal Expo is typically held at The Manor House Convention Center, while the Dayton Bridal Expo is held at the Dayton Convention Center and is probably the largest in the state. Veils and Cocktails at The Madison is an annual event that combines hors d’oeuvre and cocktails with the opportunity to meet 50 of the city’s finest wedding vendors.

While a bridal show can be overwhelming, it’s also the perfect opportunity to meet multiple, prospective Cincinnati wedding DJ companies in person and not only obtain a quote, but also get a feel for their personality. Remember, the DJ sets the tone for the entire evening and also takes on some MC duties, so you want someone who meshes with your own personality.

Ask on Local Message Boards

A local message board or online forum is a great place to cull referrals and recommendations. You can find bridal forums with special Ohio or Tri-State sections on popular bridal sites like The Knot (theknot.com) or One Wed (onewed.com), or you can just check a local message board.

Remember, word-of-mouth advice can often be trusted and is typically a reliable way to find a great service provider for an even better price.

Avoid Companies That Do Everything

Have you ever seen ads for companies that handle all the videography, photography and DJ services? Ever wondered how they can do so many things well? Normally they can’t. Instead of investing in a wedding warehouse, look for someone that is a professional DJ and does what they do well. Remember, DJ’ing is a skill and it goes beyond having the right equipment.

Ask Your Venue or Photographer

Every weekend, your venue or photographer is either at a wedding or is hosting one. Thanks to that incredible wedding experience, they’ve also been able to witness and evaluate possibly hundreds of local Cincinnati wedding DJ companies. So, put some trust in your other wedding vendors and ask them for referrals, recommendations or tips on who to avoid.

Posted November 22, 2008 by TrafficKahuna

Wedding favors really shouldn’t be an afterthought. These little favors are a personal thank you from the happy couple to their guests for attending their special day. Many times, the main thing that is remembered by your guests is the favor they received. And why wouldn’t they? They bring it home and if it’s reusable, something they will look at for months or ever years to come. No matter if you have a wedding where you grew up or you are having a destination wedding and looking for wedding location help, don’t forget the value of this little item.

For hundreds of years, these wedding favors which are also thank you items have been an very important part of showers and weddings. A couple of centuries ago, the success of a wedding depended on what the guests felt about their wedding favor. In fact, there is still an old wife’s tale that says; if your guests love what the couple gives them, then they will have a blissful marriage.

Planning a wedding can truly be a very disturbing experience. Sometimes, in the middle of the wedding plans, the stress can create couples to even break up and call off the wedding. With all that anxiety and frustration, who would have the time to think about the final item on your wedding list; the infamous wedding favor. And when your wedding is at a totally different location, you then have to worry about the wedding favor matching your destination location.

These wedding favors which are usually small items can be easily overlooked or pushed into the background; putting buying them off until the very end. After all, with the reception, gown, band, flowers, photographer and so many more responsibilities to take care of, why would we spend time on this little gift for our guests?

It’s easy to find an amazing favor without putting in much effort. As you are traveling to wedding boutiques for a wedding gown or to pick out your flowers or whatever, just keep this small item on the back of your mind. As you are deciding on more important features of your wedding, you may stumble across the perfect gift for your guests. More than likely, if you find it this way, it will blend into the theme of your wedding and become a beautiful addition that your guests will love for a long time. And if you are looking for a unusual location for your wedding, making sure you have the perfect thank you for your friends and family that traveled, is doubly important.

Of course, we agree that this is not as important as other elements on your wedding planning list, but as already said, don’t overlook it. That would be like ignoring your guests and what they thing about your wedding. So put it in its rightful place but always keep in the back of your mind that it is the highlight of your guest’s table and what they reach for the second they sit down and talk about during the whole wedding with the other guests.

The Changing Role Of Bridal Party Members

Posted November 17, 2008 by TrafficKahuna

I, like many of you, have attended more weddings than I can count. I have also been a member of a wedding party on several occasions. Some of these weddings have been small and intimate with just a maid of honor and a best man to stand up with the bride and groom. And then there have been the humongous weddings where the number of people in the wedding party reached double digits.

And it was at one of these huge weddings that went on and on for hours when I began to wonder about why we have these attendants. Have you ever wondered where these traditions began?

The history of the best man goes back many centuries – some sources say as far back as 200 AD. If women for marriage|prospective brides were in short supply[/spin] in the local village, a man simply took his best friend, or “best man”, and went to the next village to steal a bride. The best man then stood by the groom during the wedding ceremony to protect the groom from the bride’s family who may come and try to steal the bride back.

The history of bridesmaids dates back to Roman times. Bridesmaids were originally intended to protect the bride as she traveled to the groom’s village for the wedding ceremony. Legend states that in several European countries, a couple often had as many as 10 attendants and their purpose was to ward off evil spirits. Bridesmaids and ushers (or groomsmen) wore clothing identical or similar to the bride and groom so the evil spirits would not be able to tell who the true bride and groom were. (Now you know who you can blame for that row of bridesmaid dresses hanging in your closet that will never be worn again.)

Fast forward a few hundred years, and while we still have wedding parties, or attendants, the role they play has changed a bit. And I’m pretty sure that women everywhere are happy to hear of the changed role of groomsmen. However, having been a bridesmaid several times, I’m of the opinion that the job of warding off evil spirits is still part of the experience. for all their hard work today, those evil spirits might be helping a bride cover a last minute unsightly blemish or help her recover from a hangover.

And, for all their hard work, we need to show appreciation to our wedding attendants. Popular yet inexpensive bridesmaid gifts may include personalized jewelry or an engraved jewelry box. Popular gifts for him can include:

  • personalized flasks
  • cigar gifts
  • money clips

Whatever you decide on to thank your attendants be sure you make your personalized presents a keepsake. Your wedding attendants will certainly appreciate it.

Today, wedding attendants plan and attend bachelor parties and bridal showers, make toasts, assist the bride and groom in planning the wedding and during the wedding and reception itself, and act as legal witnesses. But mostly, attendants today are there to look good and to help the couple celebrate their special day. Far from being a dangerous task, as it once was, being a part of a wedding party is now an honor and a lot of fun.
